Full course description
The KIND ADHD Chapter offers an in-depth look into ADHD, exploring its historical roots, diagnostic criteria, and diverse treatment approaches. Covering everything from initial evaluations and risk factors to behavioral interventions and medical management, each level builds upon foundational knowledge to address the needs of allied professionals, medical practitioners, and sub-specialists. Special topics include ADHD in unique populations, supporting individuals into adulthood, and the latest research developments. An engaging interactive case study and parent interview round out the course, allowing learners to apply insights in realistic scenarios and gain valuable practical experience.
The ADHD Chapter spans 17 topics across five levels of instruction. Levels 1 and 2 provide foundational knowledge beneficial for medical professionals and allied professionals, including educators, social workers, therapists, and psychologists.
Levels 3 to 5 shift to a more clinical focus, offering advanced insights geared toward medical doctors and sub-specialists.

Miya Asato, MD is Vice President of Training at Kennedy Krieger Institute. She is faculty in the Departments of Neurology and Pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. As recipient of the Arnold J. Capute MD MPH Endowed Chair in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities, Dr. Asato provides leadership roles to advance Kennedy Krieger’s mission to train the next generation of leaders, which includes serving as Director of the Maternal Child Health Bureau Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) center grant and as Program Director of the Neurodevelopmental Disabilities Residency at Kennedy Krieger Institute. The LEND program fosters interprofessional clinical and leadership training across 14 health and educational disciplines. The Neurodevelopmental Disabilities Residency is the first and one of eight programs in the country to provide subspecialty training. As a child neurologist, her clinical and research interests lie in the developmental and behavioral impacts of childhood epilepsy as well as other neurodevelopmental disorders. Dr. Asato is an advocate and collaborator to promote workforce development and advancement of systems of care for patients and families with neurodevelopmental disorders and contributes leadership to professional organizations.
